AN Andover grandmother who discovered her long-lost American family through the pages of the Andover Advertiser has been told that she can fly out to meet her brother in the States.
Larraine Trembath responded to an appeal in the paper from American man Lewis Cape, who was searching for his sibling who was born as a result of a wartime romance involving his GI father.
DNA tests carried out in the USA have confirmed that the pair are related and now Larraine is looking forward to her trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, later this year.
Larraine, who has a breathing disorder, said: “I have now been given the go-ahead from doctors to fly out and I’m really excited about the visit, although having just turned 70 I do wonder about it.”
