COUNCIL bosses have objected to plans to build a back-up power plant on the outskirts of Overton.
UK Power Reserve Limited have submitted proposals to create an emergency generator facility, adjacent to the De La Rue effluent plant on Station Road.
The plant, which would consist of eight 5MW generators enclosed in a building, could be used to supply electricity to the National Grid during peak times.
But Overton parish councillors have raised concerns over the impact of the scheme on nearby residents and worries about how the building will look.
Their objections will now be put before Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council who will make the final decision on the proposal at the end of this month.
