SHE is on course to achieve her dream of competing against the best in the world.
A teenage gymnast from Hurstbourne Tarrant will represent her country against youngsters from across the globe in the US next month.
But now Alicia Cox needs your help to make her vision become a reality, after launching a fundraising drive to send her to the prestigious competition.
The 13-year-old earned her place in the Great Britain squad for the Tumbling World Championships after coming through a selection meeting held at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre, in Shropshire.
Alicia’s dedication to the sport sees her training five days a week at Andover Salto Centre and she will now be doing extra training with the GB team in Lilleshall, a three-hour drive from her home.
The Clere School pupil, who is working part-time at a hair salon to help fund her journey, now needs to raise £2,200 to pay for the 8,500-mile trip to Daytona Beach, Florida, where she will compete on the big stage.
Alicia said: “It’s been my dream and goal since the beginning of the year to get through to the World Championships.
“I have worked so hard, and I am now working hard to raise the money I need to make my dream come true.
“I am saving all my money from my weekend job and running lots of fundraising events, like cake sales at the school with my friends.
“I need as much help as I can get in order to raise the money I need to go to America to compete.”
To help send Alicia to the championships, which takes place from November 7 to November 9, sponsor her online at gogetfunding.
