AN ANDOVER gym has flexed its muscle by winning a prestigious award.

Energie Fitness Club on Anton Mill Road picked up the southern area’s silver prize in the industry’s Health Club of the Year Awards.

The fitness club beat more than 400 other entries in the mid-market bracket, which are put together based on the prices charged by each gym.

The site narrowly missed out on the top prize to its sister Energie gym in Milton Keynes.

The award, which is voted for by members, recognises excellence in the fitness industry and was given to the company during a lavish award ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.

TV presenter Mark Durden-Smith, who presented staff at the Andover club with their award, said: “Just taking part in the Health Club Awards says an awful lot about your club.

“It sets you apart from the competition and sends a clear message that you are passionate about what you do and you believe you offer members the best experience possible.”

The awards, which are now in their fourth year, received 35,000 votes from members of clubs across the country who each rated the facilities, customer service and value for money.

Club owner, Andrew White, said: “We are so excited to have won this award.

“The whole team works extremely hard to deliver a high standard of service and value for money.

“This award reiterates that most of the time we get this spot on.”
