AN Andover man will appear in court next month following an alleged insurance scam.
The 33-year-old is due at Southampton Crown Court on Friday, December 5, charged with four counts of fraud by false representation.
The defendant is accused of selling fake motor insurance policies to drivers across Hampshire and Dorset in a practice known as ‘ghost broking’ through a company called Personal Touch Insurance.
He was arrested last week following an investigation by City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Department.
Detectives believe that up to 150 drivers have been scammed of about £60,000 between them.
The defendant was remanded in custody after initially appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.
