AN ONSLAUGHT of killer mosquitoes carrying exotic diseases could endanger Hampshire within decades, experts are warning.
Writing in The Lancet Infectious Diseases Journal, they said warmer temperatures could encourage mosquitos carrying diseases such as Dengue Fever and West Nile Virus to breed in the UK.
The report warns that soon the UK could be ideal for the Asian tiger mosquito which spreads the viruses that cause dengue and chikungunya, with southern England being particularly at risk.
Southern England is already suitable for the transmission of West Nile virus, which can be spread by several mosquitoes currently found in the UK - but there have been no human cases so far.
