THE mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Karen Hamilton, is set to be ‘kidnapped’ as part of a day-long fundraising event this week by the disability charity Enham Trust.
Held opposite The Guildhall in Andover town centre tomorrow (23 June) between 10am and 2pm, the event will see the charity ‘kidnap’ the mayor from her parlour and hold her in a bamboo ‘jail’ in the time-ring; unable to leave until all collection tins are full or she has secured 10 fundraising events and initiatives from local businesses and community groups on behalf of the charity throughout the year.
“We’re delighted that the mayor is able to support us in this way,” said Enham Trust’s community engagement officer Sheryl Scott-Clarke.
“However, we won’t be setting her free until at least all our collection tins are full, so if you wish to help save the mayor, come along and donate.”
The event marks the first in a series of initiatives planned between the trust and the mayor of Test Valley; Enham Trust being one of the mayor’s chosen charities of the year.
