Four young members of Andover Athletic Club were handed the baton of success as they won the Clarendon Marathon relay on Sunday.
Paddy Turner, Jordan Davies, Jack Butt and Dylan George finished with gold with a combined time of three hours and two minutes in the men’s race, despite the team sharing an average age of 14-years-old.
The four boys led the race from start to finish up against 53 other teams pacing the 26 miles ancient trail from Salisbury to Winchester.
Starting at Wyvern College, Laverstock, Paddy set off at the front of the field to cover the first leg, handing over to Jordan after 10.5km at Middle Winterslow, before Jordan handed over to Jack at Broughton for the next leg.
Jack faced the gruelling task of climbing to the top of Farley Mount whilst covering over 12km before handing over to Dylan who brought the baton home on the high pressure final leg.
The quad squad gave a big thank you to Andover Athletic Club coaches with a special mention to Andy Lunn, Chris Dewey and Steve Brett.
Other success was also shared on the day with club member Gareth Copping knocking four minutes off his course best to finish in 20th position and the second over 50.
Melanie Evison also completed the Clarendon half marathon whilst her boys Mackenzie and Jago completed the five-mile race.
