WHITCHURCH Women’s Institute president, Adele Gilchrist, presented a cheque for £500 to the Kingfisher Day Centre at Laverstoke.
The WI had planned that life-long Whitchurch resident and WI member, Joan Gregory, would present the cheque but sadly she died suddenly after a short illness last month.
Joan had been particularly keen to help the Kingfisher Centre as she had been a volunteer helper there for many years and was aware of what a valuable service it provides to the community.
The money was raised by members of the WI in the Rotations Charity Shop in Whitchurch earlier this year.
Whitchurch WI, which meets on the third Thursday evening every month at the Gill Nethercott Centre, has also raised money for other charities this year including the Pink Place, Andover Women’s Refuge and the “Blood Bikes”. New members and guests are always welcome.
