A MAN has died following a collision on the A303 this morning. 

As previously reported officers were called at 7.26am following reports of a single vehicle collision on the A303 eastbound, just north of the railway line.

The driver of the car, a 44-year-old man, from Basingstoke, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Road closures have now been lifted.

A police spokesperson said: "We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we dealt with this incident.

"Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or who saw the vehicle prior to the incident."
