A SCHOOL has become the first in the country to be recognised with a high-level safe-guarding award.
Winton Community Academy has been awarded the Platinum level for the Incyte International Excellence in Safeguarding Award.
The award was presented to the headteacher of the London Road school, Nathan Thomas, by Incyte’s managing director, Malcolm Greenhalgh.
To achieve the platinum award, the academy gained a Grade 1 in each of the 23 categories of the award.
It demonstrated “innovative practice” that goes “above and beyond” that which is found normally with the academy also demonstrating to inspectors that this work makes a positive difference to the people in the care of the school.
