THREE men have been arrested on suspicion of fraud after they carried out “unnecessary work” on an elderly man’s roof.
The trio aged 24, 25 and 38, all from Salisbury, are believed to have charged the victim, in his 70s, an “excessive amount of money”.
The work was carried out on the home in the Millway area of Andover between September 5 and 6.
A spokesman for Hampshire police said the three men were arrested as part of a fraud investigation and remain in custody.
A tweet from Andover police added: “The males carried out roofing work which was not required and charged a vulnerable male an excessive amount of money. Please don't be fooled by these opportunists! Not sure? Don't open the door!”
