THE town’s runners and TV personality Katie Piper came together in aid of Andover Foodbank on Sunday.

The charity’s annual Lake Run had more than 400 participants turn out for its 5km and 10km tracks alongside a 2km fun run in collaboration with Andover junior parkrun.

Andover’s own Katie Piper took time out of her training for Strictly Come Dancing to open the race and took part herself, finishing the 10km route in one hour, two minutes and 54 seconds.

Katie said: “It was fantastic to take part in the Andover Lake Run in aid of the Andover Foodbank this weekend. It’s always lovely to return to my hometown of Andover, and this was made even more special by supporting such a worthwhile cause.

“A huge well done to everyone else that took part, and I hope the foodbank continues to do such great work in Andover.

“Thank you also to the many people who wished me good luck for Strictly this Saturday - I hope to make Andover proud on the dance floor.”

All funds raised will go to the Andover Foodbank which needs more volunteers to help with the organisation of the event next year.
