A BELATED festive visit was had to kick off January at Millway House Nursing Home on Tuesday.

Residents enjoyed a chat with Test Valley mayor Councillor Ian Carr and mayoress Beryl Carr in the afternoon activity, asking them questions and chatting about their Christmas.

The home, in Weyhill, also kept its Christmas decorations up for one more day to keep the spirit for the occasion.

Activities coordinator Sue Kirwan said: "We decided it falls so flat in January it would be really good to do something different for them really enjoy seeing the mayor, they are chatting away.

"It's just lovely to see them smile and have a conversation. It gives them a bit of independence."

Cllr Carr said it was a pleasure to come and meet all the "happy residents".
