A CARE home is launching a café for those living with dementia and their loved ones.

Rothsay Grange, in Andover, has achieved an accreditation for a new standard of care developed by specialists Barchester Healthcare.

The 10-60-06 dementia programme has been developed by the dementia team at Barchester Healthcare in a bid to ensure the care services provided in Barchester’s Memory Lane Communities for people living with dementia are the best in the sector.

And staff are now rolling their knowledge out to help those in the community by hosting a dementia care, which will offer a space for people to spend time with other people in a similar situation.

The café will be hosted by an Alzheimer’s Society dementia champion every last Monday of the month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, and will launch on January 28.

General manager Jessica Salway said that she and staff were “delighted” with the accreditation.

On January 19, Rothsay Grange will also host an open afternoon between 1pm and 5pm.

Guests will be able to enjoy a selection of sweet and savoury treats prepared by the home’s head chef, and will have the chance to meet the team and take a tour of the home.

And people can join in activities taking place on the day with residents and staff.
