THE temperatures may be low but that has not stopped business owners whipping up some love for ice cream in Andover.

Brian Chant and Dawn Tapp will officially open the doors to their new ice cream parlour, Twenty5, on Monday, with a vision to provide something fresh for the town.

Opened in the former Phones4U outlet, in High Street, the shop promises to offer around 20 flavours, which can be paired with crêpes, waffles and sundaes.

Co-owner Brian said: “Dawn had the initial idea of a dessert, gelato-type shop in Andover, because there is not one here and they are generally successful in other places.”

Brian and friends have spent time turning the unit from a retail space into the parlour, which will sit around 45 people.

“We are trying to bring something for Andover, something that would be of interest to people in Andover - we wanted to bring something different. We don’t want to just be another coffee shop,” Brian added.

“We want to give something back to Andover, and get people coming into the town, it could be the catalyst to make that happen. Most people would go to Basingstoke or Salisbury.”

The parlour has created six part-time jobs, with Dawn working full-time to run the business.

She said: “I am relieved that everything is in place, we have got a good routine and to get everything organised.”

Dawn and her team have spent months testing ice cream flavours to offer their customers, with around 200 individual flavours available from their award-winning suppliers.

“It has been months and months of researching other named outlets to look at what they serve and what we need.”

The business partners hope that the parlour is such a success that they will be able to open another, with potential for an offering in Tidworth.

Dawn, who used to work at Muffin Break before it closed in The Chantry Centre, said: “We want it to just boom and hopefully open another one.

“We want it to be a place for people to come, they don’t have to come in in groups they can come on their own, read a newspaper and just chill.”

The parlour opened its doors at 9am today (Monday), with plans to open until 6pm most evenings.
