PUPILS were given an insight into the world of engineering and manufacturing thanks to two major employers in Andover.

Winton Community Academy teamed up with Stannah and Twinings to present Year 8 students with a challenge to design, manufacture, brand and package their own biscuit.

The pupils then presented their sweet snack to industry experts who then had the challenging task of deciding which team had both produced the best biscuit and also met the design objective for the challenge.

Head of technology at the London Road school, Max Lee, said: “It is great to collaborate with local businesses and give our students the opportunity to work with industry experts.”

Both companies also felt the challenge was a “great way” to give pupils from the school an insight into some of the skills needed to be be successful in the 21st century, and the school thanked the firms for giving up their time and helping make the day possible.
