A CLUB which offers older people friendship and fun has been given a donation thanks to shoppers.
Alamein’s Over 50s club, based in King Arthur’s Hall, has been awarded £338 by Waitrose, presented last week by customer assistant Annwen Walker.
The group, which started over five years ago, offers regular events for older people including quizzes, sing-a-longs and guest speakers.
Club organiser John Cockaday said: “The hall hire is nearly £400 a year so I know now that is safe for another year and even if I can’t get a speaker I can still run a quiz.
“The members love it.”
Members meet on alternate Wednesdays, from 2.30pm to 4pm, for a chat over tea and cake.
