A POWER cut which struck Andover today affected scores of homes and forced a school to close early.
Scores of SP10 postcodes wereknown to have been affected by the blackout, according to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) .
Andover Church of England Primary was forced to send its pupils home shortly after 11am as it could not produce any hot meals for the children.
One parent said: “One of the other mums phoned me up about 20 minutes or half an hour ago.
“I hadn’t heard about it. Obviously the school can’t make any calls out to let us know.”
SSEN reported the blackout at 10.42am with full restoration expected at 2pm.
SSEN sent out the following on Twitter: “We’re sorry for the #PowerCut affecting #Andover and the surrounding areas. We have engineers en route & aim to restore power by 14:00.”
Other affected areas include Wolversdene Road, Micheldever Road and London Road, with the power cut reaching as far as Leigh Road.
SSEN confirmed at 1.35pm that all affected homes had had their power restored.
