AN ANDOVER man has been charged with invading the pitch during a football match this weekend.
The 24-year-old is accused of going onto the playing area at AFC Bournemouth’s home game against Newcastle on Saturday (March 16).
Five other men and a 14-year-old boy were also arrested on suspicion of going onto the pitch from the away supporters stand. Five of the men were also arrested on suspicion of assault.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “It is alleged one female steward sustained an injury to her nose during the reported incident. Enquiries are underway to ascertain whether an assault took place.”
The Andover man is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 2.
