AN ANDOVER nightclub has donated £5,375 for new specialist equipment at a local respite home for children with learning disabilities and complex health needs.
Howard Cooper, manager of Cameo, on London Street, nominated Andover and District Mencap (ADM) to receive the money for Rainbow Corner, which opened in February 2019 to provide overnight short breaks and day care for children and young people.
The donation will fund two beds, a hoist, a garden ramp and rail to provide easier access to the garden and an epilepsy sensor mat and pager to alert staff if a child is having a seizure.
Howard said: “The donation is from our company’s Echo Trust charity to give something back to our local community.
“We wanted Rainbow Corner to benefit because of its amazing support for children and their families.”
Chris Newman, Director of Care and Support Services at ADM, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Echo Trust and Cameo for this generous donation.
“It will enable us to maximise our capacity to support children and their families as we don’t have enough specialist equipment to meet the demand
.”
