WHITCHURCH Silk Mill has scooped a double bill of industry accolades after winning two Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awards.
The historic mill was one of nine winners of the RIBA South Award 2019, while it also claimed the additional honour of RIBA South Client of the Year.
A statement on RIBA’s website said: “The sincerity with which the renovations have taken place are the key to this project’s success.
“The alliance between client and architect has cultivated a masterpiece in conservation architecture that has transformed a one-time visit novelty into a vibrant multi visit attraction with additional revenue streams.
“That this has been achieved so respectfully and to an exacting budget, is extraordinary.”
Whitchurch Silk Mill, described by RIBA as a “gem of industrial heritage”, reopened in September last year after a multi-million-pound redevelopment project.
It will now be considered for the RIBA national awards, the winners of which are set to be announced on Thursday.
