WITH the sun shining on Andover over the weekend, here is our guide to what's happening across the town and beyond (indoors and outdoors) on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday

Andover

ANDOVER’S annual Armed Forces Day returns for a third year.

The free event, which takes place on Saturday, June 29, at Vigo Park between 10.30am and 6pm, aims to bring together Andover’s military and civilian communities.

Visitors will experience a huge range of displays and activities for all the family.

An Apache fly-past is expected at around 2.30pm, with side-shows from the Army Cadets, Army Air Corps and 22 Engineer Regiment plus a large display of military assets from Perham Down’s Royal Engineers.

Further performances will also take place through the day with one of the UK’s most in-demand medieval re-enactment troupes ‘The Paladins’ taking to the stage, as well as live music from local singer-songwriter Alex Krupa, Lizzie Cullen and the Covergirlz’ ‘Vintage Sweethearts’.

There will also be displays from one of the world’s only children’s motorcycle display teams, ‘The Rockets’.

Enham Alamein

ENHAM Alamein will host its village fete this weekend.

The action begins at noon tomorrow (Saturday), and runs until 4pm.

A host of activities will be on offer throughout the afternoon, including a barbecue, a raffle and a bouncy castle, as well as beer and Pimm’s stalls and a dog show.

The event is free-to-attend and takes place at Enham Trust.

Whitchurch

Whitchurch Silk Mill will host the return of Sylvanian Families Shopping Weekend. Offering a range of Sylvanian products for sale, plus special offers, competitions and even visits from your Sylvanian characters as well as their special song and dance performances. Free entry, no ticket required. Runs from 10am. Also on Sunday.

Tidworth

HELP For Heroes Tedworth House, in Tidworth, will open its gardens to the public.

As part of the National Garden Scheme, the recovery centre is allowing visitors to tour its green space between 1pm and 4pm.

Entry costs £5 for adults, while children go free.

Refreshments will be available with all donations going to Help for Heroes.

Ludgershall

The Big Brew Up, in aid of SSAFA the military charity, at Castledown FM, Wellington Academy, Tidworth Road, from 11am to 4pm. Tea and cake in return for a donation. Also on Sunday.

Stockbridge

St Peter’s Church Flower Festival, at High Street, from 10am to 6pm. Afternoon teas. Also held on Sunday. Songs of Praise on Sunday at 10:45am.

Sunday

Andover

Andover Gardening Fair will return to High Street, running from 10am to 2pm, offering experienced and budding horticulturalists alike a day out.

Producers of a range of herbaceous perennials, shrubs, ornamental grasses, herbs, ferns and alpines will be present.

As well as plants, there will be stalls offering landscaping products, garden furniture and accessories and natural beauty products alongside homemade cakes, preserves and pickles.

Andover Trees United’s Children’s Zone will keep younger visitors entertained with facepainting, seed planting and crafts.

Sing for Fun will be performing throughout the day with refreshments available from The Fizz Tin and Hogget & Boar BBQ.
