MEMBERS of the Andover Carnival committee celebrated the success of this summer’s event at its annual general meeting (AGM) last month.

Andover Carnival took place in July, with thousands of residents taking to the streets to watch the procession in what organisers described as their biggest event yet.

This year’s event was held in aid of the I Can Therapy Centre and Andover Young Carers, both of which were presented with cheques worth £2,000 each at last month’s AGM.

Prizes were also given to most impressive float and walking procession group.

Ruby Slippers had been named winners in the walking procession category, while the Picket Twenty Community Association were judged to have had the best float.

Cheques were presented to both groups in recognition of their efforts.

Carnival committee members have thanked those in the community for coming out and supporting the two local charities on the day. A special mention was also made to Asda who, through its Foundation and its staff, helped significantly in contributing to the cause.

Work is already underway for next year’s event.

Entries are now open for applications to become one of the charities the Carnival supports at next year’s event.
