THE new manager of an Andover care home says he is excited to be joining “one of the finest care homes” he has seen after taking up the reins.

Baiju Punnaserry has moved across town from Ashbourne Court Care Home, in Salisbury Road, to Harrier Grange Care Home, in Hawker Siddeley Way.

Mr. Punnaserry said: “I’m delighted to become the new care home manager at Harrier Grange. It’s a fantastic home and the facilities are of the highest standard I’ve ever worked in. It is without a doubt one of the finest care home homes in Andover and even the country.

“It’s clear that providing the best care for the residents has always been the main priority of the Harrier Grange team and I’m looking forward to continuing that, whilst bringing my own ideas and learnt best practices to the already well-run home.”

Mr Punnaserry has extensive knowledge in caring for elderly people, including those with dementia and end of life care.

He has over 20 years of experience in the medical and care sectors, including various roles at Bupa, Four Seasons Healthcare and Brighterkind Care Homes, and is also a registered mental health nurse.

He added: “I’m a committed and passionate individual and my aim is always to provide the best care for vulnerable adults who deserve to receive the most dignifying care in the later days of their life. I consider myself to be a very friendly, approachable, and honest person and I believe passionately in the value of people, a caring culture, and respect for others.”

The home’s new manager organised a meeting with residents at the 66-bed home to introduce himself and he says residents and staff have already made him feel very welcome.

“I am meeting with all the residents and they have already made me feel at home,” he added. “Now I’m looking forward to getting to know them all better and continuing to make Harrier Grange a fabulous place for our residents to live.”

Harrier Grange Care Home opened in 2017 and offers residential, nursing and respite care home.

Its facilities include a salon and nail bar, home cinema, residents’ café, secure private gardens and an on-site chef to prepare meals as well as mini-bus and chauffeur-driven car to ferry residents into town.

The home, which has its own dedicated activities coordinators who organise a varied events programme throughout the year, was rated as ‘good’ as by the Care Quality Commission in 2018.
