A MAN was hospitalised with head injuries after a crash on the A303 on Thursday night, prompting a police appeal for witnesses.

The incident happened at around 5.45pm at the junction of the A303 and Amesbury Road, near Solstice Park.

An Audi A3 collided with a Scania lorry.

The driver of the car, a local man in his 30s, was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with head injuries.

The man driving the lorry was shaken but unhurt.

Police say the road was closed for around six hours whilst the scene was dealt with.

Now officers are appealing to witnesses to get in touch.

A police statement read: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage.

“If you can help, please contact our Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference log 220 of 23 January.”
