FISH poachers on the River Test were caught by police yesterday (Thursday) after officers found them ignoring government advice not to leave their homes.

The group were spotted in the Kimbridge area and upon investigation, police found that they were breaking more than just the lockdown rules.

A message from Hampshire Constabulary read: “We stopped a large group yesterday (Thursday) in the Kimbridge area who were not following these restrictions. They were also found to be involved with fish poaching on the River Test.

“This group are now being dealt with by Police and the Environment Agency respectively. If you have any information that could help in our investigation, please let us know by phoning 101 or online at www.hampshire.police.uk using reference number 44200111443.”

Police have also taken the opportunity to urge residents to report any suspicious behaviour – which includes breaking current lockdown restrictions.

“If you see anyone or anything you think is suspicious, we want to know,” the police statement added.

“This includes people you may suspect are breaking current Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Phone us on 101 or online at www.hampshire.police.uk. Always phone 999 in an emergency.”
