ALREADY Hampshire’s number one attraction according to TripAdvisor, the Hawk Conservancy Trust just got better with the introduction of its new interactive Top Trumps activity trail for children.

That is the verdict of visitors to the 22-acre bird of prey centre near Andover who have been enjoying an exciting game of bird-themed Top Trumps as they meet the many different species and discover which top the charts with their top-flight skills and characteristics.

Maisie Cox, 11, who played with her sister Etienne Cox, 9, on a visit from Whitchurch, said the Top Trumps feature was a big hit with them:

“You get your own special card and activity sheet for free when you come in and then you go around and find the giant cards with the birds and see if yours can beat them for anything," Maisie said.

"I had the Andean Condor so won easily for wingspan. It’s massive - three metres.”

There are six fascinating categories, so lots of chances to compare scores and see who trumps who.

Will the Snowy Owl have the best camouflage factor; the Goshawk have the highest predator rating; or will the White-headed Vulture be the rarest?

In addition to the free activity trail there is also a special set of Hawk Conservancy Top Trumps so the fun and learning can continue at home.

Packs are available from the visitor centre or from the online Trust shop.

The Hawk Conservancy Trust funds its charitable work largely through the operation of its bird of prey visitor centre at Weyhill.

It is also home to the National Bird of Prey Hospital and gives visitors the chance to experience rare birds of prey up close - watching flying displays in three different arenas or simply meandering through 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadow.
