From Monday September 7 South Western Railway will be implementing new changes to their services.

There is good news for commuters as South Western Railways announce the latest changes in their timetables.

The new timetable will be in force from September 7 to increase capacity by 20% compared to the current timetable.

South Western Railways will be :

  • Reintroducing some direct services
  • Increasing frequencies on some routes
  • Increasing capacity at busy times, especially the morning peak.
  • Returning to a near-normal timetable on weekends (engineering works and late notice alterations may apply.)

Here are all the changes to routes:

Basingstoke to London Waterloo (stopping service)
Trains will run half-hourly on this route with the last service from London Waterloo at 23:48.

Alton to London Waterloo
Trains will run half-hourly on this route with the last service from London Waterloo at 23:23.

Woking to London Waterloo (stopping service)
Trains will run half-hourly on this route with the last service from London Waterloo at 00:09.

Brockenhurst to Lymington Pier

A reduced service will run on this route, with two trains per hour in each direction. The last service from London Waterloo with a connection at Brockenhurst is at 20:00.

London Waterloo to Exeter St Davids
A reduced service will run on this route, with one train per hour between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids  in each direction. The last service from London Waterloo is at 20:20 to Exeter, 21:20 to Yeovil and 23:25 to Salisbury.

Salisbury to Basingstoke
An hourly stopping service  will run on this route. The last service from Basingstoke is at 00:14.

Salisbury to Frome (via Westbury and Yeovil Junction)
One service a day will operate in each direction.

Salisbury to Bristol Temple Meads
We will be running two return services per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. 

Guildford to Ascot

There will be a half-hourly train service in operation between Ascot and Aldershot.  There will also be one train during the morning and evening peak from London Waterloo. The last service from Aldershot will be 23:00 with the last service from Ascot at 23:23.

There will also be two trains every hour between Farnham and Guildford, with the last service from Farnham at 23:04 and the last service from Guildford at 23:33.

Portsmouth to London Waterloo via Guildford
A reduced service will run on this route, with two trains an hour (1 'fast', 1 'slow') between Portsmouth and London Waterloo, in both directions with additional peak time services. The last service from London Waterloo is at 22:30 fast and 22:45 (slow).  

Haslemere to London Waterloo
An hourly service will run on this route. The last service from London Waterloo to Haslemere will be 20:15, however, London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford services will continue to stop at Haslemere later in the evening.

Portsmouth to Southampton Central
Trains will run between Southampton Central and Fratton, with one train every hour, in both directions. The last service from Southampton Central is at 22:44, with the last service from Fratton at 21:42.

 Portsmouth to London Waterloo via Eastleigh 
There will be an hourly service on this route, with the last service from London Waterloo at 22:09. 

Dorking to London Waterloo
An hourly service will run between London Waterloo and Dorking. The last service from London Waterloo is at 23:09.

Guildford to London Waterloo via Leatherhead
There will be an hourly service on this route with the last service from London Waterloo at 23:39.

Guildford to London Waterloo via Cobham and Stoke d'Abernon
A half-hourly service will run between London Waterloo and Guildford via Cobham and Stoke d'Abernon. The last service from London Waterloo is at 23:50.

Hampton Court to London Waterloo
Trains will run half-hourly between London Waterloo and Hampton Court with the last service from London Waterloo at 23:36. 

Chessington South to London Waterloo
A half-hourly service will run on this route. The last service from London Waterloo is at 23:00.

Shepperton to London Waterloo
A half-hourly service will run on this route with two peak trains running via Twickenham. The last service from London Waterloo is 23:42.

London Waterloo to London Waterloo via Strawberry Hill
A normal service will run on this line, with two trains every hour. The last service from London Waterloo is 23:27 (via Kingston) and 23:03 (via Richmond).

London Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside via Richmond
A half-hourly train service will run between London Waterloo and Windsor and Eton Riverside via Richmond. The last service from London Waterloo is at 23:28, with a train travelling as far as Staines at 23:58.

London Waterloo to Reading
A half-hourly train service will run between London Waterloo and Reading, in both directions. The last service from London Waterloo to Reading will be at 22:50. 

London Waterloo to Weybridge via Brentford
A half-hourly service will run on this route. The last service from London Waterloo will be 23:22, with a train travelling as far as Staines at 23:52.

London Waterloo to London Waterloo
Two trains per hour will run on this route. The last service from London Waterloo will be 21:15 via Richmond and 21:37 via Brentford.

London Waterloo to Weymouth 
An hourly service will run on this route with additional peak services from London Waterloo to Southampton Central and Bournemouth. The last services are 20:00 to Weymouth and 22:35 to Bournemouth.

London Waterloo to Poole (stopping services)
An hourly service will run between Southampton Central and Bournemouth.

Salisbury to Romsey via Southampton Central

A normal service will run on this route with trains running hourly.

Island Line

A full service will be running on the Island Line.

South Western rail has warned that from September 7, you can only use a ticket that is for a specific train operator on that operator's services unless special arrangements are advised.

They state: “ If you have a ticket that is for a specific train operator and the train is cancelled, this may be used on any service provided by any operator between the same start and end station, group or Zone on the same date. Normal Peak/Off-Peak time restrictions will still apply.

“Advance ticket holders will be permitted to travel on other operator’s services if the original booked service has been delayed or cancelled. Travel must still be on the same date.”
