THE latest coronavirus hotspots around Andover have been revealed.

23 cases were confirmed in the eastern part of Andover in the last week, the highest number in the area.

However, in the southern part of the town, around Anna Fields, there were less than three Covid cases.

An interactive map on the government website shows just how many people have tested positive for the virus in each area of the county over the seven-day period up to Saturday, October 28.

Public Health England breaks down the numbers of coronavirus cases into neighbourhoods called 'Middle Super Output Areas' (MSOAs), which are smaller than council wards and based on population rather than geographical area.

The interactive map allows users to type in their postcode and see how many cases were reported in their area and if it has increased or decreased from the week before. The darker the colour on the image, the more positive test results have been recorded.

The map highlights which areas of the nation have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.

Whilst England continues in a national lockdown through November, coronavirus cases remain below the national average in Test Valley.

133 new cases were confirmed in the borough in the seven days to November 19.

It had decreased by seven per cent on the week before, with its rolling rate of 103.8 cases per 100,000 population below the UK average.

But in eastern Andover, the case rate is higher.

23 new cases were recorded there in the seven days to November 14, up more than 150 per cent on the previous week.

However, the rolling rate remains below the national average.

It refers to the Andover London Road and East Anton MSOA, which includes Enham Alamein, Augusta Park, Picket Piece, Andover Down, Picket Twenty and the Vigo Road area.

On the other end of the scale, Andover South recorded fewer than three cases in that time.
