Cell damage

A FINE has been handed to an Andover man for damaging a cell while in custody.

Michael Haig, of Garden Close, was ordered to pay £150 by Basingstoke Magistrates Court for damaging a police custody cell in Basingstoke to the value of £200.

The 20-year-old was given a conditional discharge of six months for the offence.

Driving ban

A WINCHESTER man has been disqualified from driving after being found at over twice the drink drive limit.

Robert Britt, of Monarch Way, was in charge of a Maserati in Sutton Scotney when he was found to have 89 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on October 26. The legal limit is 35.

The 57-year-old was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license for 22 months, and received an endorsement on his driving record.

He was also ordered to pay £239, comprising a fine of £120, a victim surcharge of £34, and the £85 costs of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Speeding

AN AMESBURY woman has been ordered to pay £100 after pleading guilty to speeding.

Catherine Mary Downie, of Redworth Drive, was found to be driving a BMW at 81mph on the A303 near Parkhouse Cross on March 11. The speed limit is 70mph.

The 32-year-old was fined £68, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32. She also received three points of her driving license.

Officer Assault

A WATERLOOVILLE man will stand trial after pleading not guilty to assaulting a police officer in Andover.

Terry John Reeve, of Laburnum Road, is accused of assaulting Matthew Dipper on October 14 in Corinthian Close.

The 28-year-old also pleaded not guilty to damaging windows and a fence belonging to Sovereign Housing, as well as damaging a police vehicle, on the same date.

Reeve also pleaded not guilty to failing to give a breath sample.

He will stand trial on May 7 2021 at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court.

Underage sex accusation

AN ANDOVER man has been sent to trial for having sex with an underage girl.

Jonathan Furber, 31,is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old.

He is also accused of making the girl look at an image of a person engaging in sexual activity.

Furber, of Anton Court on Salisbury Road, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 1.

The case was sent to trial. He will appear at Winchester Crown Court on January 6, 2021.

Drink driving fine

A FINE of hundreds of pounds has been given to an Andover man for drink driving offences.

Anish Abraham, of Coldharbour Court, pleaded guilty to driving a Lexus while over the limit. He gave a sample with 86 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, while the legal limit is 35.

The 32-year-old appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on November 26, where he was given a fine of £646.

In addition, he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £65 and the £85 costs of the Crown Prosecution Service, totalling £796 to be paid.

Abraham was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license for a period of 20 months.
