An Andover charity is set to host an online art show at the end of this month to raise funds for a new community building.

Andover Trees United’s ‘Anonymous Art Show’ will see A5 artworks, submitted by budding artists from across the town, sold for £25 each.

The money will be put towards ‘The Cabin’, a community space built around a former shipping container, which the group hopes will allow them to offer events all year round at their Harmony Woods site.

Exhibition organiser, Alex Marshall, said: “We are looking forward to hosting this group exhibition showcasing original artwork by over 40 professional and amateur artists.”

The idea for the show was announced in January, with members of the public from all across Andover and further afield invited to submit their A5 artworks to be sold.

This art was then posted to Andover Trees United, or a high-quality photograph sent, so that the charity can put the show together. While the names of the artists will be available, the show will be anonymous as the artwork they each produced will not be identified specifically, keeping the show anonymous.

The exhibition can be previewed online for Saturday, February 27, when the list of artists will also be released. Online sales will then open from 10:00am on March 1, and run until 7:00pm on March 31.

Those who buy one of the artworks will be able to schedule a time to collect the artwork in a Covid-safe way, or arrange postage.

If all the artworks sell, the charity will raise over £1,000, which they will put towards The Cabin, based at Harmony Woods in Andover. The off-grid building will act as a hub for volunteers, as well as allowing for activities such as a forest school, craft workshops and business meetings.

Alex continued: “We are so thankful to all the artists taking part in the show and this is a fantastic opportunity for people to buy a work of art and support a great cause.”
