FOOD hygiene ratings for eight businesses in Andover have been published by the Food Standards Agency since the start of this year.
Listed below are the latest findings of council inspectors.
Hundreds of premises across Andover are rated by the Food Standards Agency, based on the findings of local authority inspectors, who work all year round.
The hygiene standards found at the time of inspection are then rated on a scale.
Five is the best rating, meaning standards are very good and fully comply with the law.
Zero is the worst, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.
Inspectors check the following three elements:
- How hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored
- The condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation, and other facilities
- How the business manages what it does to make sure food is safe and so that the officer can be confident standards will be maintained in the future.
Ratings may be made public immediately by the local council, or after a number of weeks. Often it depends on the circumstances and whether the recipient appealed the decision.
