Marwell Zoo is on the hunt for a new Senior Animal Keeper to look after its Primates and Small Mammals.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with a range of species including Golden-Lion Tamarins, Siamang, Long-Nosed Potoroo, Two-Toed Sloth and White-Faced Saki Monkeys.

The Hampshire zoo currently has one full time role (40 hours per week) listed on its website, but sadly, not just anyone can apply.

Marwell is looking for applicants who have a strong understanding of primate and small mammal species’ biology, natural history, husbandry & welfare.

The role requires someone who possesses current knowledge of issues affecting zoological collections and their contributions to conservation, science, sustainability and education.

They also require specialist taxonomic knowledge and experience in primate and small mammal species with a minimum Level three (ANC / DMZAA) or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences.

Day to day job responsibilities include husbandry routines, animal nutrition, training, enrichment and supporting veterinary intervention.
