WALKING alone at night can make some feel uneasy and after the tragic death of Sarah Everard, these concerns have been heightened for many.

In fact walking alone in broad daylight can be a scary task for some.

But fear not, if you want a little extra peace of mind the next time you are walking alone, there are personal safety apps that can help.

Here are five safety apps that may help you feel more ar ease next time you are out alone.

Bsafe

The app, bsafe, has a range of safety features that can be activated through touch or voice command.

The SOS feature will enable your phone to record your surroundings and send the footage to your chosen contacts whilst allowing them see your location through GPS.

In addition to the SOS feature there is a Fake Call feature, which allows you to make your phone ring as a distraction.

One Scream

One Scream is designed for moments of extreme distress, where your instinctive reaction is to scream.

If you're in danger and can not reach your phone, your panicked scream automatically triggers the app, a text message and an automated call with your location is then sent to your nominated contact.

It even works from the bottom of your handbag.

Kitestring

Kitestring is a free personal safety service rather than an app. Before you set off ask Kitestring to check up on you at a certain time and they will text you to make sure you’re safe.

If you do not reply to the check in message, Kitestring alerts your emergency contacts that you set up ahead of time.

Of course, you can always extend your ETA or check in early. The best part is you do not need a smartphone to access the service and it is completely free.

Life360

Life360 lets you create a group of trusted contacts, the group can check the locations as well as send and receive alerts when members of the group arrive at certain places.

Shake2Safety

This is a useful app for Android users, the SOS app lets you send text messages to emergency contacts, share pictures with location and record audio in emergency situations.

All this happens by just shaking the phone or pressing power button 4 times it works when your screen is locked and when you don’t have any internet.
