St Mary’s Church in Andover will be open for private prayer to mark the passing of Prince Philip.

The church will be open between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, April 10, for anyone wanting to pay their respects or contemplate recent events.

The Reverend Chris Bradish, vicar of St Mary’s, said: “Today we have heard the sad news of death of his Royal Highness Prince Philip.

“Prince Philip was a man who life, actions and presence shaped and guided our national life, richly contributing to it in so many ways. He was, so it seemed, for so many years the nation’s brother, father, and grandfather.

“His loyal and unstinting service to Her Majesty the Queen, our nation and the Commonwealth is an example to us all. We give thanks for his life and faithful service and offer our prayers to God for Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family on the announcement of this sad news.

“St Mary’s Andover will be open for private prayer tomorrow (Saturday 10 April) between 10am-2pm. All who wish to remember, pay their respects and find stillness at this time are most welcome.”
