Assault charges

AN ANDOVER man has denied assaulting two women.

Peter Nigel Lovell, of Thistledown Close, is charged with two counts of assault in the town on February 7.

Appearing before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the 55-year-old entered not guilty pleas to both charges.

The case has been adjourned pending a case management hearing, which will take place on July 21. Lovell has been excused attendance.

Harassment fine

A MAN from Picket Piece who harassed a woman has been fined.

Jason Joseph Tranham, of Walworth Road, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards the woman in Andover on September 15, 2020.

He was fined £80 when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

But after denying assaulting the same woman at a previous hearing in December, the 26-year-old was found not guilty of that charge and it was dismissed.

Tranham was also ordered to pay costs of £25 and a £34 victim surcharge.

Case withdrawn

AN ANDOVER man accused of speeding in Southampton has had his case withdrawn.

Daran Andrew McCauley had been accused of speeding whilst behind the wheel of an Iveco van.

It was said that he had travelled at 35 miles per hour in a 30 zone on Maybray King Way on November 29, 2020.

But appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, the case against the 53-year-old was withdrawn.

Hefty fine

AN ANDOVER man has been given a three-figure fine after driving without insurance.

John Andrew Nosko, of Lamb Close, was behind the wheel of a Ford Transit van on Dene Road on December 27, 2020, when he was not insured.

The 36-year-old was given a £660 fine and banned from driving for nine months.

Nosko must also pay costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £66.

Fine for speeding

A MAN caught speeding through road works has been fined.

Muhammad Atif Aslam, of Whitebeam Close in Andover, was caught speeding between junctions 4 and 5 of the M27 whilst behind the wheel of a Mercedes on November 24, 2020.

The speed limit there has been reduced to 50mph, and Aslam was caught driving at 60mph.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay total costs of £124 and given three points on his licence.
