As MANY as 15 charities based in Hampshire have each received a £1,000 donation as part of Ecclesiastical Insurance Group’s Movement for Good awards.

Enable Ability, Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust and Invest in Me Research are some of the local charities set to benefit from the money, following overwhelming public support in the county.

The awards saw over 7,000 Hampshire residents nominate a cause close to their hearts, with a huge 89 per cent of those saying they’ve donated the same amount or more during the past year.

Additionally, 49 per cent said they are more likely to support a local charity than a national one, as the country emerges from lockdown.

Later this summer, a further 30 charities will also be chosen by a panel of judges to receive £10,000 from Ecclesiastical Insurance Group.

This money is to be put towards the advancement of heritage and arts, education, rural and community, climate, human rights and equality.

In addition, two charities will benefit from an additional £50,000 each and another will receive a life changing £100,000 award.
