Andover’s artisan market returns to the high street this weekend with a range of delectable treats for visitors.

The mid-summer market will be packed with a variety of traders selling everything from food to plants and drinks, providing a relaxed and enjoyable way to stock up on all things local.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, which organises the markets, Councillor Phil North said: “In an age where we are all encouraged to make the most of our local facilities and shop local I am delighted that the Andover Artisan Market provides an excellent excuse to be able to do both.

“Visitors to the town can shop from top quality produce and merchandise and enjoy background music from talented local people whilst also reducing the carbon footprint and supporting a home-grown economy at the same time.”

The artisan markets returned following Covid lockdown on March 21 with a soft relaunch, when a food, drink and plants market was held on the high street. Following this, the full artisan markets returned on April 18, and now take place on the third Sunday of each month.

Those visiting July’s market can visit a range of food stalls, including those from Brown Bread, Pear Tree Preserves, Star Bakes and Vanda’s Pantry, and then wash it down with drinks from Rutts Lane Cider.

There are also goods for the home with gardening supplies available from Market for All Seasons and Oak Track Smallholding, while Little Country Lane provides a range of homewares.

Background music will be provided in the Time Ring by Andover Town Band in the morning, followed by singer Jake Ward in the afternoon.

The market will be set up to provide plenty of space around stalls to comply with Covid restrictions, ahead of the planned relaxation of lockdown rules on Monday, July 19.
