Weather experts at the Met Office have been giving details on what the weather will be like on August bank holiday.

Following a month of grey and wet weather, many are hoping to see one last hot spell of weather this summer.

With the last summer month approaching an end, this is what is in store for North Hampshire.

Sarah Kent, a Met Office forecaster, said: “High pressure is dominating this week bringing mostly settled conditions with variable amounts of cloud.

“However, there will be a north-easterly breeze coming in from the North Sea making it feel colder for some regions especially later on in the week.

“Where there is sun, particularly on Wednesday, temperatures could reach highs of 24C in England and Wales, while western areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland could be up to 26C.

“This all depends on the amount of cloud some regions see.”

UV and pollen levels will also be high across Hampshire in the coming days.

Ms Kent said that after Wednesday, the temperature will become cooler as a cold front moves in.

She went on to say: “It’s not going to be wall-to-wall warm weather all week, that north-easterly wind will continue to peg back any chances of the temperature going too high.”

Here is the full forecast.

Today:

Perhaps on the cloudy side in places to start, but it will soon brighten up to reveal warm sunny spells for most. Feeling a little cooler in eastern coastal districts in particular, with a northeasterly breeze developing. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Tonight:

Dry with clear spells overnight. Remaining breezy in eastern coastal districts, however lighter winds inland may help lead to local mist or fog patches. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Tuesday:

A fine day, with sunny spells developing widely after locally cloudier starts. Remaining breezy in coastal districts although feeling warm in shelter. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Settled but breezy at times through this period, with some warm sunny spells by day, although perhaps more generally cloudy and damp early Thursday. Temperatures falling a little below average.

Saturday August 28 - Monday September 6

The last weekend in August and into September is likely to be dominated by high pressure resulting in fine and settled weather across the UK. This will bring variable amounts of cloud, sunny spells, a few light showers and mainly light winds but some fog patches overnight, which clear during early morning. It looks increasingly likely that these settled conditions will persist through much of this period, with perhaps weak frontal systems bringing some light rain and showers at times. Winds likely to be light to moderate for most, with breezier conditions towards the edge of the high pressure in the far south, where it may feel cooler. Temperatures are likely to be rather warm in the west but near average and cool in the east below any persistent cloud.
