A new shop promises to expand Andover’s horizons after its opening this month.

The Black Cat Co., located on Newbury Street, offers a range of products they say will help improve the wellbeing of its customers. The store is the brainchild of Samantha Daly, whose partner Pedro discussed what the store has to offer.

“Our place is based on emotional wellbeing and your development into a human being,” he told the Advertiser. “We’re opening horizons to all the world has to offer.”

The health and wellness industry has undergone rapid expansion in the past few years, and is set to increase its value by around 40 per cent in the next four years as customers demand more products aimed at helping their lifestyle.

This has been driven by celebrities and influencers such as Gwyneth Paltrow, who have championed wellbeing. Paltrow has her own business, Goop, which is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The store opened on Saturday August 14, and was a hit with the first customers to come through its doors.

Pedro said: “The opening was really good. We got a lot of people visiting and a video which was really great.”

The business sells a range of “esoteric” goods, including crystals and tarot cards, but Pedro says that the store is much more focused on wellbeing, and hopes to dispel any myths.

“Other businesses in town cater to a different audience, and we hope to appeal to everyone, not just people into stuff like this,” he said. “People can misunderstand things about it.”

As a result, the store is primarily focused on aromatherapy and related products, which Pedro says help people to relax.

“Everyone struggles from day to day so everyone needs a little helping hand in one way or another,” he said.

The Black Cat Co. is open Monday to Friday on Newbury Street between 10am and 2pm, and is open until 4pm on Saturdays.
