The Enham Trust is going the extra mile for disabled people by hosting a series of events throughout the coming month as part of plans to mark its centenary year.
Chief among these is the return of the Enham Summer Fete, which is making a comeback after being postponed due to Covid. Other events include quiz nights and marathons as the charity looks to raise funds for the next 100 years.
The trust’s chief executive, Heath Gunn, said: “We’re thrilled to be inviting the local community back together again in time for our Centenary celebrations. It’s been a challenging period for all during the pandemic, including us as a charity and those we work so hard to support, so what better way to come back from it all than by hosting our very own fete in the village where it all began 100 years ago”.
The Enham Trust launched the 100 Challenge earlier this year, which is asking for 100 members of the public to take part in an activity 100 times to raise funds for the charity’s work with disabled people as it commemorates the 100th anniversary of its founding.
The funds will be a part of a larger “centenary ask”, which aims to provide a number of projects in Enham and beyond. This includes refurbishing the Landale Wilson hall, as well as extending the Enham Trust charity shop and converting part of the space into a tearoom.
First up on the calendar is the Andover Trail Marathon, which is Sunday, September 5, beginning at 7am. It is being hosted by Run on Trails, with a portion of proceeds going to the trust.
The Enham Quiz night is next, taking place on Friday, September 17. This is closely followed by the summer fete on Saturday, September 18. Running from 10-4, attendees can expect to enjoy performances, stalls and activities fit for all the family, and even their dogs too. These include a dog show, silent disco, bouncy castle, heritage trail treasure hunt and the one chip chilli challenge.
Then, on October 3, the virtual London Marathon allows keen runners to step up to the mark to run 26.25 miles to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
