A MAN has been arrested following an incident in the Chantry Centre yesterday, in which two town rangers were assaulted.
Police were called at 4.27pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, September 14) to a report that a man had been attempting to engage in fraudulent activity at Poundland on Andover High Street.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson told the Advertiser: "When challenged, the man became aggressive and later assaulted two town rangers near the Chantry Centre, Chantry Street. They were not seriously injured.
"Officers attended and arrested a 39-year-old man from Worcestershire on suspicion of fraud by false representation and two counts of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm."
The man remains in police custody at this time.
