A CAR collided with a traffic camera in Andover this afternoon.

Firefighters and police were called to the scene on Weyhill Road shortly after 1pm, and the fire crew assisted in making the scene safe for other drivers in the area.

A spokesperson said: “Firefighters from Basingstoke were called to Weyhill Road, Andover, at 13:15 following an RTC involving one vehicle and an ANPR camera.

“One male had got himself out of the vehicle before crews arrived.

“Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service moved the vehicle to safety and cordoned off the camera.

“The stop message was received at 13:34.”

No injuries were reported.

Automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR) cameras are installed to help track driving offences, including speeding, or driving without relevant documentation.
