A DROP-IN vaccine clinic in Andover has been described as ‘a shambles’ after queues stretched the length of the Chantry Centre this morning.

The three-hour session for Covid-19 booster vaccinations was running this morning (Friday, October 22) at the shopping centre hub between 9am and 12pm.

Queues of keen residents made their way there, however many reportedly decided to leave after seeing the waiting times.

One man, who went along to the clinic but decided he would not wait for his jab, told the Advertiser the session was “a shambles”.

The resident, who did not want to be named, added: “They are directing pensioners right the way up to the top! It’s a total shambles, as opposed to the old system at The Lights where you could just go, get your vaccine, and leave again.

“It’s only on for three hours so everyone has scrambled to make it, but pensioners who find it very hard to walk and can’t stand around just simply walk away. It was a total waste of time.”

He continued: “This is why the Covid jab is not being taken up properly across the country.”

Test Valley Borough Council and the NHS Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG have been contacted for comment on today's queues.
