HAMPSHIRE Police have reminded residents that as we enter the festive season they may see armed offices out and about.

Hampshire Police have said that as towns and shopping centres become busier over the Christmas period, they will have planned patrols to keep residents and businesses safe.

Chief Superintendent Darren O’Callaghan, said: “The presence of our armed officers at busy locations around Hampshire are part of our plans to ensure everyone can feel safe as they prepare for the festive season.

“As part of our work with community leaders and partners, we regularly update our patrol plans and review key events in the area to make sure we are in the right place at the right time to keep our communities safe.

“So, if you spot anything that looks suspicious when you are out and about this festive season, please don’t hesitate to come up to us if you see us on patrol and let us know.”

They are reminding residents about the importance of remaining alert to anything that they make think is suspicious.
