ANDOVER is set to have some lovely festive initiatives in and around the High Street this Christmas, including a chance for residents to win vouchers worth £300.

Andover BID along with the Town Centre Businesses are organising some old festive favourites to new and exciting Christmassy occurrences.

Among the events are a Nutcracker Kings game, best Christmas window competition and a projection show on Letters from Santa.

Organisers said 10 Nutcracker Kings will be placed around the town centre and shoppers are encouraged to follow the clues in the Nutcracker Booklet, which can be picked up from all participating businesses.

A copy of the booklet has also been sent out to families through their child’s school/nursery. A downloadable copy can also be found online at inandover.co.uk.

If you follow the instructions, find the clues and complete the Entry Form, you can win £300 of vouchers to spend in local businesses.

Shoppers are also encouraged to take selfies with the Kings and share it online using hashtag ‘andovernutcrackers’.

Andover’s best Christmas window will be decided by a judging panel that inspects the area on the afternoon of Friday, December 10.

This year, there will also be a ‘People’s Choice award’ where the public will be able to vote for their favourite window displays in the Town Centre on an online poll. Follow Facebook page @InAndoverUK for more information.

A Christmas Projection Show will also return to Andover this month which features an 18-minute ‘Letters to Santa’ due to run every evening from Monday, December 13 to Sunday, December 19. Andover’s beautiful Lloyds Bank building will become a canvas for the interactive Christmas show from 5pm–7pm on these days.

The organisers have also created an InAndover Christmas Brochure, full of local Christmas ideas and presents.

Shelley Coburn, events coordinator for InAndover, said: “We hope that our events and occurrences will give residents, visitors and businesses a well-deserved boost after the disappointment that surrounded Christmas 2020 when Covid stopped plans.

“The BID, along with Andover’s wonderful selection of independents, wants to encourage our wonderful community to get behind our ‘spend local this Christmas’ message.”
