AN ANDOVER man has been charged with arson and assault by beating following an incident in the town last night.
Mwamba Munkonge, 30, of Alder Road in Andover has been remanded in custody and will appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, January 31).
According to police, the incident happened shortly after midnight yesterday (January 29).
Police attended the scene as they responded to reports of a fire at an address.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: Police received an allegation that a woman was assaulted at the location by a man known to her.
“Following enquiries, Mwamba Munkonge, aged 30, of Alder Road in Andover was charged with arson and assault by beating.”
