A MUM from Ludgershall who found it difficult to find a local group for her two children with special needs has set up a club by herself to support other kids.

Rachael Harris, who herself has two children with special needs, is planning to open the monthly club at the Old Castle Club in Ludgershall.

She said the group will be for local children with special education needs and disabilities, and their parents and carers.

“I have been looking for a local group for a long time,” Rachel said.

“Everywhere seems to be for under 5s or during school hours. So, after chatting to my eldest, who is 13, we decided to start our own club for kids from our community.”

She has already seen a huge support from her community as she has been receiving donations in the form of toys from the community.

“At the Old Castle Club, we will be having local companies coming to do certain sessions,” Rachel said.

“The first one will be a petting zoo. We will also have arts, crafts, toys, games and puzzles. We will have a sensory corner and hideaways for when any off the children need time out on their own.”

Rachael has also set up a gofundme page for her organisation as the group will be free and it will rely on donations. The money from the donations will be used to buy play equipment for children.
