A MUM from St Mary Bourne village is raising money for two charities by organising a charity run in memory of her niece who tragically died at the age of 19.

Hollie Cradduck, who is a television broadcast engineer, is organising the event Run4Rosie in memory of her niece Rosie Carter-Desai who died of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) in 2013.

The money raised from the run will go to two charities – SUDEP Action and Friends of St. Mary Bourne School, where Rosie attended as a child.

Hollie, who is a mother of two children and expecting her third one in a few days, said she is excited to do something positive for Rosie, who was a fun, strong and beautiful woman.

“This is something I wanted to do for nearly eight years,” Hollie said.

“I have always been in triathlon and so I wanted to do something like this. It has taken quite a lot of time to reach here, but I’m really excited to raise money for these charities.

The charity run will be held at St Mary Bourne recreation ground on May 15.

There will be 5k and 10k runs for adults and fun runs for kids according to their ages, and everyone who completes the race will get a medal.

There will also be BBQ, bar and stalls that sell special memory t-shirts for Rosie.

Hollie said Rosie was well-known in St. Mary Bourne and many villagers have fantastic memories of her.

“Some may have been to the village school with her, and some will remember her working at the George Inn and also enjoying a tipple or two as she got older,” Hollie wrote in a website dedicated to the charity run.

“Rose also lived across the road from the lovely St. Peter’s Church. This is where she was christened and also where her memorial service was held, of which people were queueing outside the door to pay their respects to the woman they remember and loved.

“Some will also remember seeing her cycling to the horse yard down Gangbridge Lane in the early hours to look after her horse Tully.

“So, as you run for Rosie, as well as admiring the lovely Bourne Valley you can think of Rose and all the places that meant so much to her, bringing her memory to life.”
